Home Run Derby live updates, results, highlights from 2022 MLB dinger contest

The 2022 Home Run Derby is Monday night, and it’s featuring Pete Alonso chasing history.

The Mets slugger is looking to become the first MLB player in history to win three straight derbies, not to mention the only player besides Ken Griffey Jr. to win three at any point in his career. Although Alonso is the betting favorite, the favorite has gone on to win just two of the last 20 derbies.

The reigning two-time champ faces a difficult field this year, including MLB’s second-place home run hitter and wunderkind Juan Soto, not to mention an upcoming star in Julio Rodriguez and a potential crowd favorite in Corey Seager.

Rounding out the field are Jose Ramirez, Ronald Acuña Jr., and Albert Pujols, a legacy pick who will look to shock Kyle Schwarber in the first round.

The Sporting News is tracking the Home Run Derby live on Monday night. Below you’ll find updates to the 2022 Home Run Derby as Alonso chases history.
